Monorail Companion Product Line

Monorail_companion.gif

Monorail factory transport systems use discrete vehicle technology.

Inherent in the technology is less than 100% utilization of the vehicles, which then result in transport capacity limits*.
Adding the occasional and targeted use of a different technology (conveyors), within the Monorail transport system, turbo-charges the monorail, raising its throughput capacity beyond the natural limits.

Also included in the product concept is the principle of asynchronization via the use of dynamic conveyor buffers of the delivery vehicles, with respect to each other and with respect to the source and delivery destination they serve. The concept is analogous with airline hubs, where equipment utilization is optimized.

Five different module types are presented:

  • The Interbay Shunt (tm)
  • The Dynamic Tool Buffer (tm)
  • The Dynamic Stocker Port (tm)
  • Monorail to RGV/AGV Bridge (tm)
  • The Bay Assist (tm)

This
datasheet provides examples of such use of the conveyor technology.

*These limits cannot completely be offset by increasing the number of vehicles. There will always be vehicle moves which carry no load. In addition, with that technology static storage and buffer terminals are utilized due to restrictions in
number, availability and traffic congestion of vehicles. The ‘Monorail Companion Products’ also minimize the need for such static storage.
